Fishing Report Mid-October
First off: THE RAMPS ARE OPEN FOR LAUNCH BUT OFFICIALLY CLOSED, if that makes sense LOL. I've had a ton of people texting/emailing/calling about the ramp closures. The parks are all closed but they have opened the gates and are allowing people to launch.
Now for the fishing report.
Fishing is good. I'm seeing signs of turnover, today was the first day I've seen signs in multiple area's and the graph was really wacked out in some places. As expected where you're seeing this, the bite is tough. I typically get away from turnover when I can, I'm no fan. I'm working Spotsticker Jigheads and Crawlers along transition banks toward the back end of creeks. As always the Crawler or Jig will get the big bite. Check out this 7lb'r I caught on Tuesday 10/08, this was my 2nd biggest Spot to date caught on the Spotsticker Crawler head tipped with Big Bite Real Deal Craw. I'm also boating some fish on jerkbaits and topwaters as well. My swimbait bite has died off the past week to 10 days. The topwater bite has slowed too, but it's definitely still there. I think I've been off the mark with it the past few days, it's still there I'm just not quite tuned in on it right now. I expect there's a good crankbait bite out there too, but I haven't given it a look yet either. Typically in October we get a good Crankbait bite on windy days, I'll be checking it more in the coming days too.
The Striper are also biting. I've been averaging anywhere from one to six each morning with a mix of Stripers/Hybrid. I've boated some on topwater or jerkbaits but mostly live big herring is doing the trick. This bite will improve as the cold weather gets here. As always while Striper fishing we run into some big Spotted Bass as well, makes for a fun day. Kinda Surf N Turf action :)
As always many more pics in the galleries section. Most of the updated pics will now be in the "Recent Catches" folder so check there regularly. I have days available in November so drop me a booking request directly from the website. Great time to catch a monster Spot or Striper and also work on your sonar fishing/interpretation.
