Guided Fishing Trips
I run fishing trips 12 months a year, weekdays, weekends, and even some holidays. I am THE ONLY full time guide on Carter's Lake --a lake known around the world for its trophy sized spotted bass. If you're looking for a nice family getaway, corporate entertainment, or just want to go fishing, then I can hook you up! Here is more information for you about my guide service:
About the Catch
On your trip, I will always cater to your preference, but if you leave it up to me, I promise to get you on the best possible bite that is going on when you book your trip. Sometimes it is huge striper, sometimes the powerful hybrid, other times we'll load the boat with spotted bass. The bite is always changing and evolving.
If you specify a species of fish in advance, be prepared to work a little harder for it if it isn't the "hot bite" going. Some folks just want to chase those huge striper; that is fine, but keep in mind that in the warmer months, the chances of hooking a striper after about 9:30 are just about zero (there are always exceptions, so call me to get the latest fishing report). We have days in winter where you can catch them all day long.
Walleye might just be the tastiest fish on the planet, and yes, we have big ones in Carter's lake (8+ lbs). Walleye are one of the few fish that I let clients keep, and just about every one we catch ends up in somebody's cooler. If you want to target walleye, be prepared to sweat it out. They can be very difficult to locate.
About Who Goes
My clients are everything from tournament anglers to inexperienced families. Carter's Lake is an "easy reach" destination that is well worth a visit. You might be surprised how easy the lake is to reach from both Atlanta and Chattanooga. A trip on Carter's is a great getaway and I have many clients from both cities.
In addition to families, and serious anglers, I also run many corporate entertainment trips each year, with big name clients that you would recognize. Some people like to meet on the golf course. Others would rather go fishing. A fishing trip is a great way to get people together, do something different, and have a great time. The quality of fishing to be had at Carters helps make for a great impression when you need it. Also, keep in mind that I can handle large groups with my network of area guides.
Please don't be afraid to bring your little ones as well. Those of us adults that fish often don't think much of a trip, but to a child, a fishing trip is a mega-adventure that makes life-long memories.
Level of Experience
I can accept any skill level from "never-held-a-rod-before" to circuit tournament angler, and everything in between. However, at certain times of year, the hottest bite on the water might require some experience using advanced fishing gear, like baitcasting reels. It is best that you are honest with me about your level of experience so that I come equipped with suitable gear that gives you the best chance of success.
What to Expect
Booking a fishing trip? Excellent! Everyone going on a trip with me should read this page...
Rates and Booking
I have some of the lowest rates of any professional fishing guide. My rates are lower because Carter's Lake isn't near a big city, or coastal town, or other place that draws large numbers of fishermen. Nevertheless, the fishing at Carter's is world-class, and I hope you find my services of the same caliber.
Sonar Instruction Trips
There are few things you can do to improve your game like learning to effectively use your sonar. That is why I offer specialty trips just for sonar instruction. We can run your boat or mine, and we'll address whatever you would like to learn more about: 2D sonar, 3D sonar, vertical fishing, chart reading/interpretation, setup and tuning, etc...
About Carter's Lake
Carter's Lake is in north Georgia and within very easy reach of both Atlanta and Chattanooga. It is truly a world-class fishery and has some of the best populations of trophy-sized spotted bass you'll find anywhere in the world. We also have giant hybrids, huge striper, and some of the biggest walleye in the state. Read on here...
Stay at the Lake
There are several camping sites around the lake, from RV to primitive camping, and combining a camping trip with a fishing trip is great family fun. If a hot shower and soft bed are more your speed, check out the rental cabins at Carter's Lake Marina. So you can come, stay at the lake, and I'll pick you up on the shoreline or at the marina and we'll go fishing!
Other Types of Trips
If you're a fishing enthusiast, you need to book several trips throughout the year. There are MANY different types of fishing that we do, and the bite is constant evolving. You could literally book 30 trips in year and do 30 different things, and some of them, you just flat out don't want to miss! I have a compiled a few for you to read about.
