Fishing Report January "after the flood"
Water temp: 50
Lake Level: 12ft+ approx
Clarity: SUCKS
I've taken a week off of North Georgia's finest Spotted Bass Factory to re-charge the batteries. Wasn't a planned week off but it worked out that way and with all this crazy weather I couldn't blame anyone for not wanting to get out in the rain and 20mph wind.
Before the rain (last week) I had a couple of days where we boated both Stripers and Spots on topwater believe it or not. The big "L" pressure front that came in just before the rain had the fish chomping big time. Lots of fun and a good change of pace for Janauary.
Now the fish have since scattered, big time. The tournament weights over the weekend were the lowest of the winter season thus far. I expect the bite to get tougher after the cold front hits mid week. There will still be a bite out there but it's gonna be tough to find a consistent pattern until this water comes back down a bit. BAIT is way to scattered all across the lake in all depths which is typical when we have high water in the Winter.
Fished with GON members Matto and RKreder today with mixed results. We started off the morning with a nice 18lb Striper and followed that with a handful of nice Spots in the first 2 hours, jigging Spoons and down-lining Trout in 45-60ft. The bite seemed to really slow on us though and we struggled until 1pm, boating approx 9-10 Spots and the lone Striper. We caught fish on Spotsticker hand-tied jigs, Spoons, and down-lines. Slowest day I've had since early October. Bobby said the fish were all getting ready to rise up LOL. I'll be back out a few days this week and will figure em out a bit better. Thanks again Bobby and Matt for today, and congrats to Bobby on his new personal best Striper!
As always all fish were released to fight another day!!!
I HAVE DAYS AVAILABLE IN FEBRUARY SO PLEASE DROP ME A LINE IF INTERESTED!!!
