Fishing Report April Spots & Stripers

Fishing has been good this week for almost everything. I've been out 7 of the last 10 days or nights, sometimes both. We've been catching good numbers of Spots fishing 10-30ft deep with Spotsticker Jigheads rigged w/ Big Bite Worms and Spotsticker Handpours.
I've went through a few bags of Spotsticker Handpours in Flesh and Crushed Herring so if you're going out make sure to have some on board. The Big Bite Shaking Squirrel on Ayu has also been producing good numbers of fish. I've averaged 15-20 fish days on my bass trips for the last 10 or so days. There are lots of fish of all sizes in the 20-30ft range and good numbers of fish shallow in select creeks but there's still a good percentage of stubborn big females out in open water relating to bait that haven't spawned yet.
Last Friday I fished with Jay Siegrest and a group of his friends from Nashville, TN. Jay had never caught a big Spotted Bass and pulled his Triton down as a follow boat. Between our two boats and the 4 of us we boated over 40 Spots using Jerkbaits, Topwaters, Spotstickers, and Crankbaits. Jay had a giant Spot throw his jerkbait at our first stop and after a few hours of thinking about it he finally got another chance and boated his personal best Spot at 4.60lbs on a Spotsticker/Crushed Herring combo. The white fish bite has been consistent downlining 15-35ft over open water. Over the weekend Bill and I had the pleasure to meet and fish with Lt Bobby Cales with the West Virginia DNR, his wife Stacey, and their good friend James Keener of the GA DNR. We had a great weekend of Striper/Hybrid fishing catching good numbers of each.
Great to see good people catching fish and having a great time. Thanks again to Brian and James for putting this trip together. The night bite using swimbaits and jerkbaits has started to pick back up as of late too as you can see in the pics. I'll be out 6 of the next 9 so if you see me stop and say hello.
