July 2014
Last Month was Monster Fish Month
This month's blog is going to be a little pic-heavy. We've had some great catches and saw some very unusual fish. Like this comically obese hybrid. Look at this thing...this is just silly. I don't know what he got into, but he's obviously been enjoying himself. This hybrid was only about 18" long and well over 10 lbs.

In June, we also saw a channel cat with the same bad eating habits. And speaking of cats, check out the color patterns on this flathead, well over 20 lbs.
Coming up... More Great Fishing!
The bites on both Allatoona and Carters have been pretty good, and we've had a lot of fun turning up big striper, huge hybrids, and tons of spotted bass. What can you expect going into July? More-of-the-same !!! The bites in June, July, and August are very predictable and very stable . They are my favorite three months of the year to guide. If there was one time of year I would most recommend for families and non-fishermen types to get out on the water, it would be right now. The bite is very consistent and easy for the entire family to get in on the action and enjoy. Click here to send a booking request for Carter's or Allatoona.
Bass Fishing
Alright, lets down to business. We can't talk about fishing in June 2014 without showing you this monster spot. What is most impressive about this fish is how it was caught: no special techniques, no secret tricks, just a plain ol jighead worm up on a shallow clay bank. Big fish are cruising the shorelines early in the day and you too can get one to stretch your line if you keep at it.
Here are some other great spots we caught in June:
Hybrid Fishing
The hybrids on both Carter's and Allatoona have been great fun for our clients. We're seeing larger, more aggressive fish than we have in year's past. Carter's Lake hybrids have been exceptionally large this year. Allatoona hybrids and white bass have been plentiful early in the day, and Rick has enjoyed an early topwater bite between 7:00am and 9:00am. Here are some recent catches:
Striper Fishing
Big game striper have been good early in the day. Fish are a little deeper and a little more elusive, but you still have a good chance of getting hooked up. Keep your camera ready --with the warmer weather we will try to get these fish back in the water as soon as possible to prevent exhaustion. Here are some recent striper catches:
Last Chance Booking
We still have choice weekend dates available in August, and many weekdays open before the kids have to go back to school. Allatoona is just a short drive from Atlanta, and Carters is a great little get-away. Get your trip locked up now and join us for great summertime fun!

Gearing up in June
The fish are and will continue to be relating to points, humps, and break lines from 18-35ft. Drop Shots, Spotsticker Heads, and Jigs will be the best way to get bit with artificials. Light line is a must. I go with 5-7lb Sunline FC Sniper, pair it with a St Croix Legend Tournament Series rod and you can commentate the bottom details as you drag your bait back.
